Quicke's Smoked uses oak chips from trees that fall on their 3,000 acres of land. They start the process of smoking the cheddar by turning the old oak into thousands of small oak chips, before scattering them over the floor in a disused barn to dry out. Then, after the moisture has left the chips, they put them into a wood burner which funnels the oaky smoke into the smokehouse on the farm. The finished cheese has a lovely burnt orange hue, with a natural smoke flavour added to the grassy, rich lactic cheese.

Upon completion of your order, you will be asked to select a delivery date. We will always work to deliver to you on your date chosen but sometimes delays may occur. We will contact you if a change to the delivery date is required. At check-out, your delivery charge will be calculated.

All our products are packed in Cheese Cuisine boxes (unless you have ordered a giftbox or added a hamper to your order) with filling (bubble wrap where needed) and gel ice packs when required, to preserve the quality of fresh products.

Your cheese will arrive wrapped in speciality cheese paper and we recommend you refrigerate it as soon as it arrives. We recommend using your cheese within five days of purchase, however, many cheeses will last far longer. We are not big on paper waste; all the information on our products can be found on our website. Quicke’s was established in 1540. To this day they still use traditional recipes, time honoured techniques and heritage starters passed down through the generations, and continue to create outstanding cloth bound cheddar. Made by hand in an old-fashioned way, slowly matured for a deeply satisfying flavour, their cheese celebrates the deep connection that has grown between the Quicke family and the land they have nurtured for almost 500 years.
